Gardening Tips from Rob Dixon

On Saturday 6th April Rob Dixon from the Trading Post delivered an entertaining talk at the Library Coffee morning and sent us all scurrying into our gardens to implement his advice.

His top tip was to organise our compost-making, feeding the soil to ensure seeds and plants get off to the best start possible. Rob also talked about the history of the Trading Post itself which was set up during the Second World War as a cooperative under the government’s DIG FOR VICTORY campaign.

Rob wound up with a lively question and answer session and reminded us about the  Spring into the Garden event.  It will be held on Thursday 16 May, opening at 7.30 pm in the Public Hall on behalf of the Gardeners Association.  Do come along to support the Trading Post and enjoy the stalls, drinks and refreshments.  And remember you can join the Gardeners Association and get discounts on all your gardening requirements from the Trading Post  for a subscription of just £2 per year, £1 concessions.

  1. just to inquire about having a stall at your garden function on 16th May. I have a stall once a week at Hope mobile post office community cafe. I sell Home and Garden products such as Plant food tools watering cans etc. I was invited to worthen gardening club and the members found my products useful. Would consider me if you have space left.
