History on your Doorstep

100 years of HIGNETTS!  It’s fascinating to find out  about our village and the local area, whether your family has lived here for generations or you’re a newcomer.

On Wednesday 1st May HIGNETTS of Pontesbury – our local butcher’s, baker’s and greengrocer’s – celebrated its 100 year anniversary.  Nick is an FoOPL committee member and a strong supporter of keeping our library open. Together with wife Pat, daughter Sarah Jane and the staff Nick put up a display of the family shop’s history and distributed free cake and bubbly to mark the occasion and thank his customers.
